The Group’s profit before taxation for the current financial year (FY2024) increased to RM4114.6 million, representing an increase of 68.0% or RM1665.1 million as compared to RM2449.5 million recorded in the preceding year, principally attribuatble to better performance in the Power Generation Segment. In Power Generation Segment, the Group will be developing a large portion of the Kulai Young Estate into a large scale solar power facility with a generation capacity of up to 500MW to co-power a 500MW green data center park. This is in line with the Group’s shift towards investing in more sustainable renewable energy solutions moving forward. The Group expects the performance of its business segments to remain resilient due to the essential nature of its operations, and will continue to closely monitor the related risks and impact on all business segments.

Profit before taxation for the current financial year under review increased to RM1,372.6 million compared to RM633.8 million recorded in the previous financial year. Higher revenue was due mainly to the Multi Utilities Business segment, whilst the higher profit before taxation was contributed mainly by the Multi Utilities Business and Investment Holding Activities segments. The acquisition of Tuaspring, the newest combined cycle power plant in Singapore, is a natural extension of the Group’s existing multi-utilities operations and is expected to continue to contribute positively to future earnings. YTL Comms is well-positioned to continue to grow its subscriber base as the first mover in delivering innovative 5G services to its customers, offering highly affordable data plans, as well as successful collaborations such as its partnership with Shopee. YTL Power accelerated its sustainability transition with its 500 MW solar farm project and the YTL Green Data Center Park, the acquisition of a stake in an energy efficient data center and partnerships in clean energy solutions.

The increase in revenue of RM3,513.5 million as compared to the preceding quarter was primarily attributable to better performance in the Multi utilities business (Merchant) segment. The lower profit before taxation of RM100.35 million was primarily attributable to recognition of fair value gains on investment properties in the preceding quarter.

Profit before taxation for the current financial year under review increased to RM633.8 million compared to RM425.2 million recorded in the previous financial year. It was attributable to the better performance in the Multi Utilities Business (Merchant) segment. The proposed acquisition of Tuaspring, the newest combined cycle power plant in Singapore, is a logical extension of the Group’s existing multi utilities operations and, upon completion, is expected to contribute positively to future earnings. With the first phase of homes in the Brabazon development successfully launched, the project is off to a good start on delivery of its master plan, and the Group will continue to ensure development proceeds in line with market demand.
