The Group witnessed a significant boost in profit before tax, rising by RM23.6 million or 786.5% from RM3.0 million in FY 22 to RM26.6 million in FY 23. This growth can be largely attributed to the acquisition of A & W, which contributed revenue for a full 12 months in FY 23 as opposed to only 4 months in the prior financial year. The Group plans to intensify its marketing efforts to capitalise the 50th Anniversary of Crispy with customer engagement initiatives such as contests as well as retail roadshows. As part of its marketing strategy, the Group plans to step up sampling campaigns, expand its distribution channels and create new products.

The Group recorded a profit before tax (PBT) of RM3.0 million compared to a loss before tax (LBT) of RM42.3 million. This was mainly contributed by a fair value gain of an overseas investment of RM1.9 million. The increase in revenue was mainly contributed by its newly-acquired A&W business. Despite the global headwinds due to continuing geo-political conflicts, supply chain disruptions and interest rate hikes, the Group strives to improve its performance. The revenue and LBT for the current quarter improved by 77.2% and 24.3% respectively compared to the preceding quarter mainly due to better sales as the operations for Q1FY22 were constrained by the 60% manpower limit due to MCO 3.0 from 12 May 2021 to 10 August 2021.

Group suffered a loss before taxation of RM42.3 million in FY2021, from a loss before tax of RM8.5 million in FY2020. Our export sales (including NFHK and NFD) dropped 49.4% or RM16.4 million while domestic sales declined 18.6% or RM4.1 million. This was exacerbated by an impairment of RM25.1 million to the goodwill on consolidation. As the pandemic has brought about changes in consumption patterns and market trends, staying relevant is imperative. Our Group will leverage on the shift in consumer taste preference through continuous product development and product expansion
