BURSA MALAYSIA –
I am pleased to report a growth in our Profit Before Tax (PBT), which improved by 5.1% or RM116.65 million on the back of successful efforts to minimise our foreign exchange exposure through prepayment of a long-term USD lease liability. Stronger contributions from joint venture companies also contributed to the overall improvement in PBT. We are continuing to explore other avenues to bolster our growth funnel, including a new compressor station in Jeram, with the potential viability and anticipated challenges of these proposals currently under assessment. Looking towards the mid-term, we are exploring regional power solutions and expanding our industrial gases business, aligning with our aspiration to grow along the natural gas value chain. Concurrently, the Group will focus on expanding its renewable energy projects, aligning with our commitment to greenify our portfolio
BURSA MALAYSIA –
In 2022, the Group generated revenue of RM6.16 billion, some 9% higher than the revenue reported in 2021, mainly as a result of a higher contribution from the Utilities segment which benefitted from higher product prices. We will actively pursue growth opportunities to strengthen and diversify our business portfolio. Some of the key areas we are currently pursuing include growing power generation opportunities in Peninsular Malaysia, Sabah and the region integrated utilities solutions for power and utilities at new industrial zones in Malaysia and step out opportunities brought about by the energy transition
BURSA MALAYSIA –
Gross profit was nonetheless lower by 27.3% or RM175.6 million as a result of lower contribution from Gas Transportation, Gas Processing and Utilities segments following higher operating expenses, mainly internal gas consumption, fuel gas and repair and maintenance expenses. PBT for the quarter decreased by 11.4% or RM67.8 million in tandem with lower gross profit, coupled with lower share of profit from joint venture companies. These were cushioned by the impact of favourable foreign exchange movement, complemented by higher interest income from fund investments and higher other income.
BURSA MALAYSIA –
Group revenue was higher by 4.0% or RM60.2 million against the preceding quarter mainly contributed by higher
revenue from Utilities segment, driven by higher contribution from steam and industrial gases product sales following higher product prices in line with fuel gas price movement coupled with favourable impact from contracts renewal. PBT and profit for the quarter grew by 6.6% or RM36.9 million and 6.7% or RM27.8 million respectively in tandem with higher gross profit coupled with higher share of profit from joint venture companies
BURSA MALAYSIA –
PBT and profit for the quarter were nonetheless lower by 5.1% or RM30.0 million and 5.0% or RM22.1 million respectively due to impact of unfavourable foreign exchange movement, partially negated with higher gross profit.

PBT declined by 5.8% or RM35.9 million due to impact of unfavourable foreign exchange movement coupled with lower share of profit from joint venture companies. Profit for the quarter decreased by 10.4% or RM50.9 million in tandem with lower PBT as well as higher effective tax rate following imposition of Prosperity Tax for year of assessment 2022.
