The Group posted a lower LBT of RM4.0 million in Q3 22 as compared to preceding quarter of RM7.0 million mainly due to absent of the one?off abnormal costs in preceding quarter from phase 1 of the planned upgrade. Despite that, the results was not favourable due to the higher repair and maintenance cost from the continuation of Phase 2: Testing and commissioning of planned upgrade. In addition to the above, the increase in energy cost, operational cost also contributed to the unfavourable results.

The Group recorded a LBT of RM7.0 million in Q2 FY22 as opposed to a PBT of RM17.5 million in Q1 FY22. The decrease was mainly due to the planned upgrade as explained in item 1 above. Stripping out the planned upgrade cost, the Group should record a profit before tax of RM7.1 million.

Revenue in Q1 FY22 of RM465.5 million was 16.8% lower than Q4 FY21 mainly due to lower working days as a result of the festive season. Hence, PBT decrease to RM17.5 million as opposed to RM24.3 million in the Q4 FY21. On top of the reduced revenue, the major decrease in PBT was due to the nature of our stationery trading business which was seasonal in nature where the margin would be better in Q4 FY22 when the students usher in the new school year.

Revenue of RM272.6 million decreased compared to the preceding quarter in 2020 of RM339.5 million due to overall decline in sales volume during the MCO period. The decline in profit against the preceding quarter was attributable to the lower sales volume under the Manufacturing Division as the lockdown implemented by the Government caused suspension of many business operations.

Revenue for the first quarter in 2020 of RM339.5 million decreased by 20.9% compared to the preceding last quarter in 2019 of RM429.2 million. This was mainly due to the year-end peak season for school bookshop operations under the Trading Division and reduction in sales volume from the Manufacturing Division during the MCO period.
