BURSA MALAYSIA –
Pretax profit in the current quarter decreased by RM6.6 million or 68.8% to RM3.0 million, from RM9.6 million in the fourth quarter of the previous year. Net of tax, Group profits decreased to RM2.6 million in the current quarter, a reduction of 72.0% from RM9.3 million in the previous quarter owing to the persistent easing of average selling prices for nitrile disposable gloves as well as slower order uptakes in the current quarter.
BURSA MALAYSIA –
Pretax profit in the current quarter decreased by RM21.9 million or 69.7% to RM9.5 million, from RM31.4 million in the third quarter. Net of tax, Group profits decreased to RM9.1 million in the current quarter, a reduction of 63.9% from RM25.2 million in the previous quarter owing to the continual easing of average selling prices (ASP), lower production efficiencies as well as slower order uptakes in the current quarter.
BURSA MALAYSIA –
Pretax profit in the current quarter increased by RM37.7 million or 50.8% from RM74.2 million in the fourth quarter of year 2020 to RM111.9 million in the current quarter ended 31 March 2021, on the back of strong market demand and higher sales volumes across the Group’s products namely household, industrial and nitrile disposable gloves. Net of tax, profits also soared to RM86.6 million in the current quarter, an increase of 45.8% from RM59.4 million in the previous quarter.

Rubberex is among the companies to watch on Monday after their recent corporate announcements, TA Securities Research said. Rubberex’s net profit for the 3QFY20 surged 13 times to RM39.5mil from RM3.1mil a year ago, driven by higher nitrile glove demand.

News of positive data from the Pfizer-BioNTech Covid-19 vaccine trial sent shares of glove manufacturers plunging in early trade Tuesday. Rubberex eased 13 sen, or 5.24% to RM2.35. The trigger was Pfizer’s announcement on Monday night that its vaccine jointly developed by the company and German partner BioNTech was 90% effective in preventing Covid-19 infections in ongoing Phase 3 trials.

Glove manufacturers led the FBM KLCI higher on Monday as investors continued to chase the stocks amid rising Covid-19 cases. Rubberex added 38 sen to RM2.95.

Against the backdrop of resurgence of COVID-19 cases, the climb on Malaysian rubber glove stocks is regaining momentum. That the rubber glove manufacturers dominated the top gainers (in value) list says it all about the persistent buying interest. Rubberex Corp (M) Bhd, Hartalega Holdings Bhd, Supermax Corp Bhd, Comfort Glove Bhd, and Kossan Rubber Industries Bhd were among the top gainers this week.
