Despite RM5.9 million drop in revenue, profit before tax for the current financial quarter increased by 2.7% to RM9.5 million as compared to the immediate preceding quarter mainly due to higher sales margin generated from favourable product mix mentioned above and appreciation of Ringgit Malaysia against US Dollars. However, this has been offset by RM1.6 million higher interest expense and RM2.3 million lesser fair value gain on quoted investments.

The Group recorded a profit before tax of RM9.3 million as compared to loss before tax of RM5.1 million in the immediate preceding quarter. The remarkable improvement in current quarter’s earnings was mainly due to higher sales volume with favourable product sales mix, and RM1.8 million higher fair value gain on quoted investments as compared to immediate preceding quarter. However, this has been partially offset by net foreign exchange loss as a result of continuous weakening of Ringgit Malaysia against US Dollars.

Group revenue improved 5.6% to RM1,1144.4 million in FY2022 compared to RM1,055.5 million in the previous year. With less-favourable product sales mix, weaker MYR against USD and increased labour cost due to higher minimum wages from 1 May 2022, net profit attributable to shareholders reduced to RM10.8 million in FY2022 from RM14.0 million a year ago. In reaching our goal of establishing a Smart City, we will march forward in our Smart Technology Roadmap, and build our Batu Kawan facility to complement our larger objectives. Also, we shall enhance our efficiency especially in implementing factory automation to improve overall cost-efficiency, quality and reduce reliance on labour. At the same time, we shall continue exploring new business opportunities including venturing into the production of 5G related products and components for our existing and new customers globally.

The Group recorded a loss before tax of RM5.8 million as compared to profit before tax of RM5.7 million in the immediate preceding quarter. The significant reduction in profit before tax was mainly due to lower sales volume, increased labour and operational costs, and approximately RM6.0 million loss in foreign exchange caused by the weakening of Ringgit Malaysia.

The Group registered revenue of RM358.5 million, an increase of 19.9% as compared to RM299.0 million recorded in the previous year corresponding quarter. BURSA MALAYSIA

The Group”s profit before tax increased to RM2.1 million from RM0.3 million in the immediate preceding quarter. This was due to the offsetting of the less favourable product sales mix and higher operating costs in the current quarter against the one-off RM3.7 million provisions made in the immediate preceding quarter.

The favourable product sales mix, contained operating expenditure and the absence of RM7.4 million one-off exceptional provisions in the previous year precipitated an impressive turnaround, with the Group achieving net profit of RM14.0 million in FY2021 compared to RM13.6 million net loss in the previous year. Following our addition of a US manufacturer customer to produce complete box-build 5G routers products, we look forward to implementing the first smart warehouse in Sungai Petani and establishing a new smart manufacturing centre. This is in line with our vision of embracing Smart City to utilize digital technology for urban systems.

The Group’s profit before tax has reduced from RM4.3 million in the immediate preceding quarter to RM1.1 million. The lower profit before tax was mainly due to lower revenue, higher operating expenses incurred for the COVID-19 Standard Operating Procedures (“SOPs”) compliance and recognition of one-off exceptional provision made for the impairment loss on intangible asset of approximately RM1.3 million during the current quarter.
