BURSA MALAYSIA –
The group recorded PATAMI moderated by 44% to RM259 million as a result of lower EBITDA, higher amortisation of software-related intangible assets, and an exceptional non-cash item in the form of an impairment charge on intellectual properties and goodwill pertaining to a non-wholly owned subsidiary. This was partly offset by reductions in the net finance cost and lower tax expense Going Forward, The Group will continuing to invest in their transformation for longterm and sustainable growth, focusing on content, broadband, streaming, Addressable Advertising, customer experience, data and technology to better serve customers.
BURSA MALAYSIA –
Net profit decreased by RM91.7m or 96.8% to RM3.0m during the quarter. The decrease was due to higher net finance costs arising largely from unrealised forex loss from unhedged finance lease liabilities, depreciation of right-of-use assets and property, plant and equipment and lower EBITDA as explained above, mitigated by lower tax expenses.
BURSA MALAYSIA –
Net profit decreased by RM29.2m or 23.4% to RM95.8m during the quarter. The decrease was due to higher net finance costs due to unfavourable unrealised forex loss arising from unhedged lease of transponder, depreciation of right-of-use assets and tax expense, offset by higher EBITDA
BURSA MALAYSIA –
Astro’s FY22 revenue softened by 4% year-on-year to RM4.18 billion, impacted by the effects of the pandemic, structural changes in the media industry and ongoing acts of piracy. Subscription and other revenue decreased by 4% to RM3.35 billion as the pandemic adversely affected households and businesses. In FY23, Astro is powering up by becoming an ISP, bundling Astro Fibre with content, introducing Astro Fibre standalone broadband to complement our suite of offerings, as well as the full-scale rollout of our addressable advertising proposition.
BURSA MALAYSIA –
Revenue for the current year of RM4,175.5m was lower by RM184.2m or 4.2% against the corresponding year of RM4,359.7m. This was mainly due to a decrease in subscription revenue and merchandise sales, offset by higher sales of programming rights and advertising revenue. Revenue during the year continues to be impacted by COVID-19 pandemic
BURSA MALAYSIA –
Revenue for the current quarter of RM1,022.4m dropped by RM37.9m or 3.6% compared to the preceding quarter of RM1,060.3m. This was mainly due to a decrease in subscription, advertising revenue and merchandise sales. Revenue continues to be impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic
BURSA MALAYSIA –
Revenue for the current quarter of RM1,091.0m improved by RM38.1m compared to the preceding quarter of RM1,052.9m. This was mainly due to increase in merchandise sales, offset by drop in advertising revenue. Net profit increased by RM64.3m to RM137.2m during the quarter. The increase was in tandem with the increase in EBITDA and higher tax expenses, offset by lower net finance costs.
REMUNERATION STUDY –
In Financial Year End 2019, the directors’ remuneration was 27.25 million. It was fair compared to average in listed companies, considering the employees’ remuneration of 558.2 million and auditor’s remuneration of 1749 thousands
BURSA MALAYSIA –
Revenue for the current quarter of RM1,225.6 million improved by RM10.2m or 0.8% compared to the preceding quarter of RM1,215.4 million. This was contributed by increase in merchandise sales, sales of programming rights and advertising revenue, offset by decrease in subscription revenue.

ASTRO (14 JAN 20) CGS-CIMB Research has maintained its “Add” call on Astro Malaysia Holdings Bhd at RM1.28 with an unchanged target price of RM1.75 as it believes that Astro’s proactive measures to reinvent itself could grant the group a new earnings growth cycle this coming decade.
