The Group is reporting a net loss before tax of RM4.8 million for the financial year ended 31 December 2022 compared to a net profit before tax of RM7.6 million for the previous year mainly due to lower revenue. Moving forward, while they continue to pursue a strategy of expanding the product portfolio with their in-house brand of hospital and surgical disposable supplies under the Connecx name, the Group had also, on 13th January 2023 announced the proposed acquisition of industrial land in Central Jawa, Indonesia containing an area of approximately 32,400 square meters with the intention of constructing a manufacturing facility for the medical equipment industry targeting the vast Indonesian and ASEAN markets. This is seen as an inevitable step for the Group to move up the value chain of its primary trading and distribution business so as to secure its long-term business prospects.

This quarter recorded a decrease in revenue of 53% compared to the previous quarter and a loss before tax of RM2.3m compared to a profit of RM269 thousands. Caught by the supply chain disruption, the Company is faced with challenges in catering to customer’s on-demand supply request. This has added intensity to price competitive selling resulting in lower sales revenue and margins recorded in the third quarter. Furthermore, in line with the company business diversification into product development, the development cost of the medical consumable parts produced by the Company has also added to the cost of the company.

This quarter recorded increase in revenue of RM3.6 million compared to the previous quarter and a lower profit before tax by RM641 thousand. The country attained the National Covid-19 Immunization Programme target and entered endemic phase. This has led to the closure of PPV centers and shift in demand and usage of personal protective equipment (“PPE”) range. While sales for these products declined, the demand for operating room related products has increased which resulted in 20% improvement in sales revenue in this quarter. However the elevated cost pressure from surging raw material cost and higher freight charges affected the margin in this quarter.

This quarter recorded a drop in revenue of RM4.3 million compared to the previous quarter and a lower profit before tax by RM1.79 million. In the current quarter, there is a change in hospitals’ protocols and health policies as the country gradually embraces endemicity and we saw a shift in demand and usage of selected hospital products especially the personal protective equipment range. The closure of Mega Vaccination Centers has resulted in slower offtake of vaccination related supplies.

Compared to the previous quarter, this quarter sees a small but strategic improvement of 2% in revenue and a significant 86.5% decrease in loss. The previous quarter’s result includes a provision of RM6 million impairment of trade receivables. Ignoring this factor, the result still shows a trading improvement over the previous quarter, with the hospital products distribution segment contributing positively to the Group results.

Revenue for 1Q 2020 was RM 13.67 million, an increase of 17% compared to RM 11.64 million in 4Q 2019. The increase in revenue was mainly contributed by the sales of PPE amid Covid-19 pandemic.
